So this is how I see this. There are literally hundreds of Hank Mobley BLP 1568's listed in Popsike, between the prices of £7300 and $737 for a classic records reissue, even. So how can the only ever Blue Note sign of this vintage that has been offered on the market be worth less than all those? Who else has one of these for sale?
Original Vintage 40+ Years Old Blue Note Records Shop Advertising Sign. Is it by now unique?. I could find no examples of this out there these days, with plenty of hours of searching. You would have thought the company themselves would want this, judging by the small selection of original items in their last exhibition last year. This is as wide as an lp but about 4 inches taller, made of thick card, with a shiny top layer. It is over 40 years old, judging by the last lp on it being Jimmy McGriff ‎– Black Pearl, from 1971, this is 51 years old. Some of the classic lps listed there, and a roll call of names to the top also: Miles, Sonny Rollins, Monk, Dolphy Elvin Jones, Herbie Hancock. They are acknowledging their cutting edge on this, as well as the earliest bop. Surely a superb addition to someone else's music room now, or a gem on a record shop wall. This was the find of the decade for me when I discovered it, and it did not come cheap, so no insulting offers please.
