About The Poster: I occasionally buy posters just because they appeal to my quirky side (the largest side of my personality). And so it was with this one (one of a pair, same size, same epoch) which was evidently designed to get you out and about on your bike.
This particular poster was made for Peugeot which is now a French car manufacturer, but initially manufactured coffee mills and bicycles back in the nineteenth century. They first began to produce bicycles in 1882 (with ten Tour de France wins between 1903 and 1983). A century later, they sold the North American rights to the Peugeot bicycle name to ProCycle, a Canadian company which also sold bicycles under the CCM and Velo Sport names.
Its design has been credited to Bazaine, an artist whose name is also attached to several other Peugeot ads from the 1950s. In lovely condition, recently linen-backed and ready to be framed. A perfect gift for a cyclist!ady to be framed. A perfect gift for a cyclist or anyone who likes mid-century art.
