DEFECTS --   Nicely repaired/replaced cloth spine.  Original leather spine with titles is missing, and replaced

An antique hardcover book. Decorative gold embossed boards, with edge wear.  All end papers still present and in place. Previous owner name in pencil on ffep, middle. -- see photo.

Illuminated presentation page by Sharp is not filled in, it is slightly chipped on outer edge.  Lovely gilt gold ends of pages.

There are four / 4 exquisite engravings by Oliver Pelton, who was a major engraver active during early 1800s. Pelton [ 1798 to 1882] was most well known for engravings depicting America's first president George Washington.

These 4 magnificent engravings give great value to the book itself.
They all have tissues, but show paper age, acid or oxidization marks.

They are suitable for framing. These engravings by O. Pelton are true works of art themselves.

Engravings include: The Look Out, The Quiet Bay, Well of St. Keyne, and Happy Family. Book is a compilation of short story, poetry, prose pertaining to friends, friendship and society in the mid 1800s or mid nineteenth century. 322 pages.
