Antique 1920s German Tinplate Spinning Top Set - Märklin Style with Optical Discs & Driving Batons Up for sale is a beautiful and rare collection of early 20th-century German tinplate spinning tops and optical illusion discs, heavily reminiscent of classic Märklin sets from the 1920s. This cohesive set is being sold together as a single lot and includes: - 1 Large multi-striped tinplate humming/spinning top - 2 Red wooden/metal driving batons (spinning mechanism handles) - 2 Beautiful lithographed tin flower tops (Sunflower and Poppy designs) - 2 Additional green and orange tinplate spinning components - A collection of colorful interchangeable cardboard optical/geometric discs - A small vintage "Swift" cardboard box as pictured These belonged to my father, born in 1934. Given to him by his father, they date back to 1910/1920s. We’ve only found them in the attic recently. Our hope is that they find a good home and are enjoyed and appreciated once more. Condition: As shown in the 23 detailed photographs, the pieces display a wonderful, authentic patina with expected age-related wear, paint oxidation, and minor scuffs to the lithography. Please study the photos carefully to judge the cosmetic condition for sale.
