Antique T. Wilkinson & Son Sheffield Tailor's Shears – Brass Handles – Approx. 12 Inches

A fine old pair of traditional Sheffield-made tailor's or dressmaker's shears, manufactured by the renowned T. Wilkinson & Son.

Believed to date from the late Victorian or early Edwardian period, these substantial shears feature beautifully shaped brass-coloured handles, long steel blades and the maker's distinctive stamped trademark.

The manufacturer's markings remain clearly visible, including:

Measuring approximately 12 inches (30 cm) overall, these are a substantial, traditional pair of tailoring shears, originally intended for cutting cloth and heavy fabrics.

Condition

Good original antique condition, with the expected signs of age and previous use.

The brass-coloured handles retain an attractive aged patina, with surface marks and discolouration. The steel blades show scratches, oxidation and areas of surface pitting consistent with their age.

The original maker's stamps remain particularly clear.

The shears have not been professionally restored or sharpened. Cutting performance has not been tested, so they are offered primarily as an antique collectable.

A wonderful piece of Sheffield's historic cutlery and toolmaking heritage, suitable for collectors of antique sewing equipment, tailoring tools or traditional British craftsmanship.
