Features:
This lot is particularly interesting because it captures the late-2000s metal scene from two different promotional label perspectives.
The Metal Blade sampler represents one of the most important independent metal labels in the world, combining established death metal names such as Cannibal Corpse and Behemoth with the emerging deathcore movement represented by Whitechapel and Job for a Cowboy.
The second sampler reflects another side of the era, with bands such as OTEP, Darkest Hour, Bury Your Dead and Within the Ruins, covering metalcore, hardcore and modern extreme metal.
Together, the two CDs function almost like a snapshot of the American underground and extreme metal scene around 2009.
Promotional samplers were generally distributed to radio, press, retailers, industry contacts or promotional partners rather than being marketed as standard commercial albums, which gives surviving copies additional collector appeal.
