PERFECT FOR

COLLECTORS INFORMATION & ANECDOTE

Danny Elfman’s score for Batman Returns is one of his most recognizable collaborations with director Tim Burton. Rather than simply repeating the musical language of the 1989 Batman score, Elfman expanded the sound with darker choral textures and distinct thematic material for the Penguin and Catwoman.

One of the most collectible aspects of the album is the inclusion of “Face to Face” by Siouxsie and the Banshees. The song was written specifically for Batman Returns and appears during the film’s masquerade-ball sequence, making it one of the relatively rare instances where Elfman’s orchestral world directly intersects with an alternative rock artist on the soundtrack.
