An attractive collection of 23 classic Romanian postage stamps, representing important periods in Romanian postal history, from the early issues of Moldavia and the United Principalities to the General Exhibition of Bucharest in 1906.

This collection offers an interesting combination of early imperforate issues, classic Romanian portrait stamps and an apparently complete 11-value General Exhibition 1906 set bearing the special S.E. (Serviciul Expoziției / Exhibition Service) markings.

All 23 stamps shown in the photographs are included in this auction.

1. MOLDAVIA – BULL'S HEAD – 40 PARALE

One of the most interesting pieces in this collection is the blue 40 Parale "PORTO SCRISOREI", featuring the famous Moldavian Bull's Head (Aurochs).

This stamp corresponds in design to the historic Moldavian 40 Parale issue of 1858, one of the most celebrated designs in early European philately.

The example appears unused, without visible postal cancellation, and has generous surrounding margins.

Its exact printing, authenticity, paper and condition have not been independently expertised.

2. UNITED PRINCIPALITIES – FRANCO SCRISOREI 30 PARALE

Also included is a blue 30 Parale "FRANCO SCRISOREI", featuring the combined heraldic symbols of Moldavia and Wallachia.

This historically important design represents the period following the union of the Romanian Principalities.

An interesting addition for collectors specialising in early Romanian statehood and postal history.

3. EARLY ROMANIAN CLASSICS – CUZA AND CAROL I

The collection includes several early imperforate Romanian stamps featuring the portraits of Prince Alexandru Ioan Cuza and Prince/King Carol I.

The collection includes different portrait designs, colours, printings and cancellations.

Particular attention is drawn to the classic 50 Bani red-and-blue stamp of the 1872 period, with an interesting two-colour design.

These early Romanian issues are highly suitable for further specialised identification by collectors using Michel, Scott or specialised Romanian catalogues.

4. ROMANIA 1906 – GENERAL EXHIBITION – COMPLETE 11-VALUE SET WITH S.E. MARKINGS

A particularly interesting section of this collection is the apparently complete 11-value 1906 General Exhibition issue bearing S.E. overprints.

The initials S.E. stand for Serviciul Expoziției (Exhibition Service), referring to the special postal service connected with the General Exhibition held in Bucharest in 1906.

The stamps commemorate a major event in Romanian history and feature attractive engraved-style illustrations of rural life, exhibition buildings, King Carol I on horseback and Queen Elisabeth.

The following 11 denominations are present:

All 11 values appear unused, without visible postal cancellations.

The historical S.E. overprint issue is of particular interest to specialists in Romanian philately.

Please note that the authenticity of the S.E. overprints has not been independently certified. The precise classification, originality of the overprints and gum condition require specialist examination.

5. AN INTERESTING COLLECTION OF EARLY ROMANIAN PHILATELY

The collection may interest specialists in Romanian classics, early European philately, historic portrait issues and commemorative exhibition stamps.

6. CONDITION AND AUTHENTICITY

The stamps are from an older collection and are offered in mixed condition, as shown in the detailed photographs.

Some examples are unused without visible cancellations, while others are postally used.

Possible condition issues include uneven margins, hinge traces, paper thinning, gum disturbances, small faults and other age-related characteristics.

No current expert certificates are included.

In particular, the authenticity and precise identification of the early Moldavian stamps and the S.E. overprints have not been independently verified.

No guarantee of mint never hinged (MNH) condition is made.

Buyers are encouraged to examine all photographs carefully and make their own specialist assessment of the stamps, particularly the early issues and overprints.
