Vintage hand-carved decorative stone bowl featuring an etched and painted lion beneath a tree.
The shallow round bowl has a striking black, cream and natural brown design with a stylized lion scene in the center and a bold geometric border around the rim. The carved and incised decoration gives the piece a wonderful African folk-art appearance.
Measures approximately 3.5" in diameter based on the ruler shown in the photos.
Good vintage condition with attractive age-related character, surface wear, scratches and variations to the finish. The underside shows substantial natural-looking mottling and wear from age and use. No maker's mark or country-of-origin marking is visible, so no specific maker or exact origin is being attributed.
A distinctive small decorative bowl that displays beautifully and would fit well with African art, safari, lion or global folk-art collections.
