The collection of vinyl records shown in the image represents a historic series of local music compilations created by the famous San Diego radio station 101.5 KGB. Starting in 1973, the station initiated these special fundraising compilation albums under the Homegrown banner to highlight local, unsigned musicians from the San Diego area, with partial proceeds benefiting the United Way. The liner notes for the very first volumes were even penned by a young local journalist and future legendary filmmaker, Cameron Crowe. The very first record that started the tradition (1973), sporting a black-and-white sketch aesthetic of a coastal Victorian lighthouse tower looking over the San Diego bay (no records depicted the album is still factory sealed) Second volume (1974) showcases historical illustrations with an early biplane flying over the Hotel del Coronado beachfront The third entry (1975) in the series features an surreal landscape with a giant, blooming treble clef sculpture rising from a plowed field. The sixth annual release (1978) shows a vibrant night scene depicting a glowing, neon green sailing ship passing by San Diego's Coronado Bridge.
