A heavyweight mid-century varsity sweater with the deep ribbed V-neckline, extra-wide fold-back cuffs and extended ribbed waistband typical of 1940s and 1950s school and club knitwear. Made in the United States by Georgian Sportswear (Georgia Knitting Mills, "Reg. Patent Pending" on the tag).
The three knit stripes on the left arm are the classic athletic-award detail, and the chain-stitched name tag is original to the sweater — a named piece with its maker's tag still attached is uncommon in this condition.
Fits like a modern slim men's small. The silhouette is long and lean in the period style; compare the measurements to a sweater you own.
Measurements, taken flat, in inches: pit to pit 19 (rib knit stretches comfortably to 20) · length from back collar to hem 26.
Flaws: one small pinhole/moth nick at the upper left shoulder near the neckline, clearly shown in the photos. No other holes, stains, or repairs.
