This is a no reserve auction of an authentic military appointment of command by the President in July of 1918 at the tail end of WW1. This document contains signature from the secretary of war and certifies a Harold Alling McGinnis to 2nd Leutenant in the newly formed United States Army Air Service refrenced as aeronautics in this specific piece. McGillis eventually rose to Brigadier General and played a major role in heavy air bomber fleet operations during WW2 pacific theater . He retired to Bremerton Wa where he passed away in 1986.
