About the CP Holiday Train
The CP Holiday Train is an annual fundraising tradition that dates back to 1999. Every November and December, the brightly lit trains (of which there are two) crisscross Canada and the United States. At 150 scheduled stops in various communities, their modified railcar serves as a stage, where a concert by several prestigious names thrills the crowds, while volunteers collect funds and food for local food banks. It's a magical experience that embodies the spirit of holiday solidarity. To date, the CP Holiday Train program has raised over 2.1 million kilograms of food and $19.05 million. The benefits are felt year-round!
"I was delighted to collaborate with Canadian Pacific Railway on this project. I've already participated in this festive tradition with my family at stops in Smith Falls and Merrickville, Ontario. Seeing the train approach, helping those in need and attending a concert... all at the same time! It's a magical experience. I hope everyone enjoys this special memory." - Alicia Cook Sapene, Product Manager
"Since 1999, CP's Holiday Train program has raised funds and food for food banks across North America. Each year, this beautifully decorated train crisscrosses Canada and the United States, visiting communities across our network and inviting people to come together to celebrate the holidays in a spirit of generosity. We're happy to be part of these community gatherings, and proud to help local food banks in the process. CP is honored to have its Holiday Train represented by the Royal Canadian Mint, helping to raise awareness of food insecurity." - Keith Creel, President and CEO, Canadian Pacific Railway

A favorite with train enthusiasts, the CP Holiday Train remains illuminated throughout its journey across the country, to be seen and appreciated by all. Many follow its route to join in the festivities at the various stops.
The program and the list of performers change every year. CP also strives to bring its Holiday Train to new communities every year. In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic prevented the Train's regular run, but food banks still received a $1.24 million donation from CP, in addition to funds raised during a virtual concert.
