Pear 'Conference' is the UK’s most popular pear variety – and for good reason. This classic dessert pear produces long, bell-shaped fruit with firm, smooth flesh that can be enjoyed either crisp or fully ripe. Ideal for eating fresh or cooking, the fruit is sweet and juicy with an aromatic flavour. As an espalier-trained tree, this variety is excellent for growing flat against walls or fences, making it ideal for small gardens, courtyards, or as a decorative feature.
Supplied as two established trees in 5 Litre pots, these espalier pears are partially self-fertile and easy to manage. With their compact shape and slow growth habit, they’re low maintenance and require minimal pruning. For best results, grow in a sunny, sheltered spot in well-drained soil. ‘Conference’ pears crop reliably from October to November and will store well into the New Year if picked slightly under-ripe and ripened indoors.
