A delightful and eclectic assortment of spoons from Thomas Bradbury & Sons. EIGHT rather than the usual six.
The finials and the end of each handle encompass a variety of different designs from apostles to purely decorative. Two of the eight spoons come with a slightly smaller bowl than the remaining six.
This really delightful collection comes in a padded case. The spoons’ condition is very good, with no dings or dents and just the superficial surface wear that has to be expected. The case, however, is a little worn!
In addition to the interesting assortments of finials at the handle’s tip and the beautiful fig-shaped bowl design dating back to before the 16th Century, what really makes this collection stand out is the leopard’s head assay stamp in full view on the inside of each bowl. This really is a winning combination of features making this collection all the more special.
Starting life as Fenton, Creswick & Co in Sheffield in 1773, the company underwent a few changes before coming the limited company Thomas Bradbury & Sons in 1905.
