Vintage Moose Hair Tufting Framed Work Gladys Lavallee Athabaskan Canadian

This beautiful work is a caribou/moose hair tufting, which involves dying the hairs, then stitching them into place on black velvet. Afterwards the hairs are sculpted with scissors. This kind of work isa  traditional artform among western Athapaskan natives, such as Gladys Lavallee. This work is not signed, but it came with another tufting that was signed by Gladys. This particular work shows a depiction of a flower with white and purple colored tufts.

The frame is around 8.75" x 10.75". There is a wire to hang attached on the back.

Pre-owned item. This work is vintage, and has some wear from age and use. The color of the dyed tufts may have faded over time, but it overall looks great. Sold as is, see pictures for additional reference.
