Listing an authentic piece of American history. This is an original 1865 Civil War Honorable Discharge Certificate featuring the classic American eagle vignette holding an olive branch and arrows, beneath the iconic "To all whom it may concern" heading. The document includes handwritten calligraphic details tracking the soldier's enlistment, service duration, physical description, and official discharge at the close of the war in 1865. It features a circular audit/ paymaster stamp on the right side. The soldier discharged was named John W. Silcott, who belonged to the 90th Ohio Infantry and engaged in battles including the Battle of Stones River, Battle of Chickamauga, Battle of Resaca and Battle of Nashville.

The document is housed in an antique gold-gilt ornate wooden frame, which compliments the historical aesthetic. The frame measures ~9.5" x 12" and comes with a hanging wire. 

Pre-owned item. This is an antique original with no repairs or restorations. The document shows age-toning. The handwriting remains legible, though some ink has faded over time. Little to no creasing is present, but there are some small stains and points of discoloration. The frame is sturdy and structurally sound. The ornate detailing is largely intact but features some visible chipping and wear. The hanging wire is present and sturdy but tangled. There appears to be some contemporary residue along the top left corner. Sold as is, see images for additional reference.
