The CUSTOM Thomas & Friends TAKE N PLAY DEREK THE DIESEL hand painted from 3 trains is a unique action figure inspired by the popular TV show Thomas and Friends.
This die-cast train is hand painted and features intricate details that will surely delight fans of the animated series.
Made originally by the renowned studio Britt Allcroft, only in aERTL form, this collectible piece is suitable for children aged 3 and above and is a perfect addition to any Thomas the Tank Engine collection.
With its special features like being break/chip resistant and surface washable, this one-of-a-kind item is sure to provide hours of imaginative play.
Never made in the Take N Play range, only by Ertl, this is the best train in my collection
Made from 2 x Sallty and a separate flatbed.
Both Salty’s had to have their body removed from the base. Cut in half accurately.
The funnel was sourced from non train products and glued to the top oh each Salty half
The Salty parts were the filed flat and super glued together. Any tiny gaps left were filled with metal filler
Again filed to perfection
Each part had to be rubbed down and undercoated then re-painted.
The base was a flatbed from a TNP set and re-painted.
All parts were then put together including the wheel bases.
This took four days in total as each piece had to harden before anything else could be done.
Finally the whole train was re lacquered
Please appreciate the amount of work and the fact I had to break up 3 trains to do this.
However I don’t think you will find another.
