ORIGINAL ANTIQUE SEXTANT

- Victorian era naval sextant (Used for navigation)

- Facinating history - Early type curved box , usually seen with octants, sold by J Blowey. The base of the box has been replaced with a contemporary antique shipping crate from India, obviously replaced during a voyage

- Sextant made by Solomon Marks & Son, chronometer makers and nautical-instrument specialists of Cardiff

- 1858–59: listed at 101 Bute Street, Bute Docks, as chronometer makers, opticians and nautical-instrument makers.

-1876: Solomon Marks sold the business to the chronometer maker Mr Thatcher.

Therefore Circa 1858–1876

- Working but one filter is cracked and one pf the balls on the adjustment screw is loose and shaft slightly bent
