An early book by the famous cartoonist Charles Dana Gibson, this one entitled "Eighty Drawings including The Weaker Sex The Story of a Susceptible Bachelor". Published in 1903.
Charles Dana Gibson (1856-1944) was an American illustrator who created the famous "Gibson Girls". He published his illustrations and cartoons in "Life" magazine which he eventually went on to own. He was the brother in law of nancy Astor.
The book contains 80 black and white illustrations all with a witty social comment and many featuring Gibson Girls. Those relating to "The Weaker Sex" are ironic in that it is the men who are weak and the women typically strong.
In fair condition for its age with some scuffing around the edges of the covers. However, all the illustrations are in good condition.
One of six books from this series by C D Gibson as separate lots in our current auction.
