Description: Partly due to injury, he opened this season as a position player only, starting with multi-hit games in three straight contests. He then went on the injured list with a left thigh muscle strain, but was still voted into the All-Star Game ("the baseball banquet") by the fans, and in his second game back — the June 28 game against SoftBank — he delivered a clutch RBI hit.
