1) ITEM DESCRIPTION

This is a Japanese pottery multipurpose cup of Mumyoi ware, which was made by National Cultural Treasure, the 5th Sekisui Ito (1941- ) about 20 years ago.
He is a great potter, who was identified as National Human Treasure in from Japanese Government in 2003. He is the only potter, who has been making Mumyoi ware.
The seal of the potter is stamped on the body. The original wooden storage box with the signature of the potter is also included.
Mumyoi ware has been made in Sado island of Niigata prefecture, Japan since 1819.
