This is a vintage Southwest-style sgraffito pottery bear, hand-built and hand-etched Southwestern American work, circa 1998 — high-gloss black glaze incised to reveal warm terracotta beneath, a Kokopelli flute-player framed by Greek-key step patterns on the side band, and the artist's red "JW" mark on the base. The hollow-bodied vessel form is beautiful and quietly spiritual, its etching crisp throughout.
