Sept 24, 1969 Pocono Downs Thoroughbred Program.   This was the first year of racing for the TB's at Pocono which has only ran standardbreds since 1980.   If you check on the internet it says they ran TB's from 1970 to 1980 so a rare to find early program that actually proves the history of the track is in-correct.  At this meet was a young apprentice Mary Bacon who was actually third in the standings with 16 wins as she was beginning her career.   Mary was a pretty girl and had married Johnny Bacon who was also a jockey.   Her career was very sad - she went from a highly regarded jockey to having injuries.  At just 43 years old she committed suicide with a gun.   Pocono also started what was a short lived Wager "The Big E' and has a page explaining how it worked.   The program is scored and and has two tape stains on the back page.    E-mail if you have any questions.
