Original antique wooden printer’s type case bearing the impressed “E. R. WEBB N.Y.” mark.

This is an authentic working printer’s case rather than a modern reproduction. It retains its numerous wooden type compartments, original-style metal drawer pull, aged surface and wonderful printing-shop patina accumulated through years of actual use.

The case also retains surviving original shop labels identifying letters, characters and/or the particular typeface and point size once stored in the drawer. These labels vary from case to case and are part of the history and character of the piece.

The case has not been refinished or aggressively cleaned. It remains in as-found antique condition.

Condition: Antique used condition with expected wear from age and extensive printing-shop use. There may be scratches, stains, ink and type residue, oxidation to the hardware, worn paper labels, small losses, and damaged or missing dividers. Please examine all photographs carefully for the exact condition of the case being offered.

The impressed E. R. WEBB N.Y. marking is shown in the photographs.

No printing type is included unless specifically shown and stated in the listing.

Please note: E. R. Webb’s printing/type business is documented in the 19th century; however, the exact manufacturing date of this individual wooden case has not been independently authenticated. It is being offered based upon its surviving E. R. Webb marking, construction and physical characteristics.
