bought this camera from japan hence being an NTSC variant

however can switch between 60i NTSC and 50i PAL in the menu 

can also switch languages- currently have it in English

i bought the camera as untested- did not come with the viewfinder eyepiece

however the plastic rail got broken during shipping

i tried to glue it back together with some instant glue- not sure how well its on there

another problem i discovered is the lcd screen does not work - when first turning on it comes out as white and have to wait for a few minutes for it to become sorta usable

camera also did not come with a second mic or battery

has quite a few hours on the head according to the counters

I mostly used the camera for its HDV port to test my d-vhs decks - i have not stress tested it however it will record and play HDV clips to tape without distortion/dropouts from what I can see

I haven't tested the dvcam recording/playback but i expect it will work just as well

camera has s-video out together with a 3.5 video/audio out

component uses the older square AV cable which i do not have so i cant test that but probably works- i don't see an HDMI jack out on it so its analogue only

also has HDV/DV small 4 pin firewire out on the side which puts out ok video signal i think

has some rust on the output however

the 3.5 jack to composite/audio has a constant buzz in the right channel- hence only using the left if attaching it to a tv

due to the video is showing up in the right channel and not the composite rca jack as it should for some reason 

attaching it as a video and the composite as right channel audio results in a distorted picture  and you also hear the buzz in both audio channels( S-video works just fine)

i think my cable is faulty as attaching using a regular 3.5 mm to RCA phono gives me the left channel audio together with video on the right with no distortions and clean audio

maybe sony wired it weirdly and its just a sony thing to have right channel and video reversed for their cables or my cable is faulty

again switches between PAL and NTSC- same for S-video

i thought the camera switched only for SD content however now i think I was wrong 

I had the setting at 50i then switched 60i after recording some clips on a test tape - putting the camera in VCR mode resulted in it playing back the clips in HD with either 50i or 60i label next to the HDV so i guess it fully switches standards and can play both regardless which standard you have currently selected to shoot in(rather convenient to be honest)

that means that it does put out an PAL HDV signal out which the jvc d-vhs decks can see but cannot record correctly (maybe its like regular NTSC s-vhs decks which can see a PAL signal but results in distorted video being recorded to the tape)

i put on a strap on it for ease of handling however im not including it as i took it off another camera i have 

due to all the problems and the fact im not including a charger/battery im selling it as spare and repair

i am including a random mini dv cassette i have

PS apparently this model can develop a fault in the power supply board resulting in it not turning on. according to another member the power supply board is just under the tape mech -there are three boards accessed from the other side -its the two smaller ones at rear.

if someone want to try repairing one if it goes bad
