Many years ago, newspapers were key to advertising movies. Studios put together Press Kits and Pressbooks to distribute to newspapers and other media outlets. Press Kits contained  8x10 stills, production notes and synopses of the films. Pressbooks were a bit different, they contained actual articles about the films that newspapers could reprint along with stills and credits. In addition, the Pressbook contained Exploitation ideas that exhibitors could use to promote a film’s release in their area. These included contests, stunts and other attention-grabbing ideas to sell the film. Last, but not least, the Pressbook contained various sizes of ads which could be reproduced by the local papers during the run of the film. The Disney Pressbooks were the epitome of the art of movie marketing and went a long way toward helping the local exhibitors publicize a film’s release and assure a successful run. After the engagement the Pressbook was probably thrown away or put into a forgotten file somewhere. They were ephemera and had a limited usefulness. You have the opportunity to obtain one of these pieces of movie history and preserve them for generations to come.

This pressbook was printed for the 1975 re-issue of Blackbeard's Ghost. It's in excellent condition and includes the Ad Pad.

Good Luck.
