String Instrument Spares – Luthier / Repair Shop Job Lot


A varied collection of stringed-instrument spares and repair parts, ideal for a luthier, violin maker, repair workshop or music shop.


These are the last remnants of the sadly ill-fated March Hare Music shop and include a mixture of new old stock, unused parts and used components.


Please study the photographs carefully for condition, sizes and contents. Some of the more unusual parts have not been positively identified.

  • 2 × rosewood bridges – probably for a traditional/folk instrument. Approx. 168 × 14 × 9 mm. New and unused.


  • 21 × assorted pins/buttons – nylon, approx. 32 mm long, 10 mm heads, tapered shafts to approx. 5 mm. Black, brown, cream and white. Mostly new. Exact application unknown.


  • 6 × unused violin/viola bridge blanks – 4 × Teller Germany ** and 2 × Aubert Mirecourt, assorted sizes. Old luthier stock.


  • 1 × 4-string floating bridge – 75 × 5 × 20 mm. Three-foot maple construction with dark hardwood cap. Instrument unidentified. New.


  • 15 × kazoo reeds – new.


  • 1 × soundpost-setting tool.


  • 1 × cello tailgut – nylon. Used, very good condition.


  • 1 × vintage cello tuning peg.


  • 1 × violin tuning peg – approx. 60 mm.


  • 1 × rosewood violin/viola tuning-peg blank.


  • 1 × Wittner 4/4 violin metal tailpiece with four integral fine tuners. Used, fair condition.


  • 1 × violin/viola dark-hardwood tailpiece – approx. 110 mm; possibly ebony.


  • 1 × vintage wooden violin/viola chin rest – brass fittings with felt/cork padding. Used with attractive age-related patina.


  • 3 × plastic violin/viola chin rests – one appears new; one has some cork missing; largest is missing a clamp.


  • 2 × violin fine tuners.


  • 1 × cello fine tuner.
