ABOUT THE MAP
Gleason’s New Standard Map of the World on the Projection of J. S. Christopher, Morden College, Blackheath, England, was first published in 1892.
Featuring the phrase “scientifically and practically correct as it is,” the map is suitable for homeschooling, independent study, historical interest or simply as a striking decorative piece.
The map uses an azimuthal equidistant projection and is widely recognised within the flat-earth community as a representation of the world’s proposed shape. It remains an interesting historical document and an impressive example of late-19th-century cartography.
It presents the world in remarkable detail, including countries, major cities, mountains, rivers and oceans. This modern restoration remains faithful to the appearance of the original while adding new legends and markers for ancient buildings, temples, significant structures, mountains and cities.
The result is a visually striking map with both educational and decorative value.
