It has fused speaker outputs so Buyer is responsible for ensuring it does not over heat and that the speakers attached are not too low resistance. It is rated to work with one set of 4 ohm speakers or two sets of 8 ohm speakers (main and remote) if you put two sets of 4 ohm speakers on it it will fail.
It should be turned off whenever connecting / disconnecting speaker cables to reduce the chance of damage, always check there are no loose wire strands from the speaker cables, if they accidentally touch the fuse will blow and probably damage the main amplifier output.
