DESCRIPTION
Reid's thorough study into the diseases and treatment of tetanus and hydrophobia (the historic name for rabies).
This work was published after several cases of tetanus and rabies appeared in Dublin at the beginning of the nineteenth century, the author presenting this work with his own methods for treating the diseases, as well as investigating the nature and further development in their treatments.
Throughout the nineteenth century both diseases were prevalent in society, and this work was published during a scientific boom in which they were making vast strives forward in medical study.
Including an introductory chapter on the natural classification of diseases in generally and diseases incidental to the spinal system.
Illustrated with a hand-coloured frontispiece.

CONDITION
Rebound in a cloth binding by the Birmingham Medical Institute. Externally, generally smart. Front joint is cracked. Light discolouration and marks to the boards and spine. Minor bumping to the spine and extremities. Smaller cracks to the rear joint. Front hinge is starting a little after the frontispiece. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned with some spots and marks, including a tide mark to the title page. Stamp of the Birmingham Medical Institute to the frontispiece and title page. Frontispiece is lifting a little to the tail.
