Substantial dairy and daily ledger of a gentleman from Pa. Looks to have been near 60 years of age at time of writing. This nis one of the most complete daily ledgers I have seen. 8 by 12 inch book 160 pages full top to bottom. Dates from July 26 1963 to Mar 20 1964.
He keeps track of expenses daily and local and world news. The first page states-
Kitty is an account of household expenses since July 31 1957. Also listed as well other current events and historical notations. as well as philosophical meanderings and flights of fancy ....
There is a lot of info in the book. I have glanced through. A few things that pop out me.
Looks to be big Union man. Not very pleased with foreign workers taking then jobs.
Buys and sells and auctions and sales.
Thoughts on The First World War and war in general.
Notes on the Texas flood that killed many.
Many entries on the Kennedy assassination and the aftermath. His thought son politicians.
Writing on Japan and Pearl Harbor.
On Christmas-His family always has a lot happen-drunks, fights, back eyes, murders....
He notes his total worth on last page.
He is not shy on his opinion on anything. There is colorful language.
I believe there are entries for each day.
One of the most interesting and complete diary/ledgers I have seen.
