Bronze figurine
Stella or Ball Dancer securely mounted on solid, black veined marble base.
Description
This fine
bronze figurine, known to collectors as "Stella" or "Ball
Dancer", was created in France in 1925 by the celebrated sculptor
"Maurice Guiraud-Rivière (1881–1947)". His work is often associated
with the renowned "Etling foundry of Paris", known for producing
finely crafted Art Deco sculptures.
The name "Stella" means “star” in Latin,
reinforcing the figurine’s celestial theme. The sphere held delicately in the
dancer’s hands may represent the moon, planets, or other cosmic orbs, while her
poised figure balances upon a six-pointed star. Together, these elements evoke
the universe, harmony, and the mystery of the cosmos.
At the same time, the sculpture reflects the
spirit of the modern woman—confident, graceful, and in control of her own
world. With its elegant movement, symbolic imagery, and unmistakable Art Deco
character, this remarkable bronze is not only a beautiful decorative object but
also an evocative piece of history to own.
This bronze bears the
name "Guiraud-Rivière " & carries
the foundry coin Paris.
