Antique Chinese Blue Silk Embroidered Wide Sleeve Band Cuffs Manchu Magua Robe

This antique Chinese blue silk embroidered wide sleeve band cuffs Manchu magua robe dates from the late 19th century during the Qing Dynasty. It is made of a royal blue silk damask weave fabric with woven floral, bamboo, dragon roundels medallions and clouds of smoke which are auspicious symbols of good fortune, happiness, as well as a good omen of peace and a symbol of heavens. There are extra wide light sky blue silk damask weave sleeve band cuffs with a woven wan swastika meandering pattern a symbol of immortality, bats, roundels and colorful intricate finely hand embroidered Chinese figures, picturesque garden designs which are hidden inside the sleeves unless folded back to expose them. This Chinese Manchu magua robe jacket has a loose fitting, short length, right side opening style with carved round gold gilt button closures stamped with a lion head serpent decorative design and "Rich Treble Gilt" underneath, voluminous wide sleeves which can be worn extended or folded to expose the embroidered trim, black silk border, damask weave ribbon trim edging and is unlined. The robe measures 33 inches long, 26 inches wide across the chest, 20 inch wide sleeve cuffs and a 14 inch neck. It is in good condition, with fraying splits along the black silk trim edging (see close-ups). This is truly a wonderful piece of antique Chinese wearable art!
