1893 State of Montana "Last Nail" brooch given to Bertha Palmer at the completion of the dedication of the Woman's Building at the Columbian Exposition, Chicago's World's Fair of 1893. Patent date of Jan. 31, 1893. The original finish is in excellent condition. You can even see the duplication of the colors of the different medals in the nail. (The nail is composed of Gold, Silver & Copper) It is 2.5 inches long and 1.25" tall. This is a very rare item especially in this condition. Nice piece of early Montana memorabilia. Following an excerpt from the Campbell's Illustrated weekly magazine issued at the time of the Fair May 1, surrounded by thousands of men and women of all nations and countries, Mrs. Palmer, President of the Board of Managers of the World's Fair drove and last nail that signalized completion of the Woman's Building.
