Stanley No. 94 Cabinetmaker's Rabbet Plane

The No. 94 was the heavyweight of Stanley's cabinetmaker's rabbet-plane family—7½ inches long, 1¼ inches wide, and considerably harder to find than its smaller siblings. Stanley made it only from about 1902 to 1943, and surviving examples have an unfortunate habit of turning up with cracked castings and most of their nickel plating long since departed.

This one apparently missed that memo.

The solid casting is complete and undamaged, with no cracks or repairs, the full-length original cutter remains in place, and most of the original nickel plating survives. The nickel has mellowed considerably with age—which seems reasonable after roughly a century of being nickel plating—but it is still there.

Scarce model. Complete. Sound. Original. And, unlike quite a few surviving No. 94s, still wearing most of the clothes Stanley sent it out in.
