Because we have completely redesigned the Clipper Class cabin. We have not only removed the middle seat, we've removed all of the old seats. In their place, completely new Clipper Class seats have been installed.
And now that we have fewer seats in the cabin, this means there is more space for you in our new Clipper Class. We know that you often use a flight an opportunity to prepare for business negotiations. Therefore, we have separated the Clipper Class cabin from the rest of the passenger compartment.

Pan Am is initially offering the new Clipper Class on selected 747 flights. But it's already available on nearly all nonstop Frankfurt-New York flights and on the new nonstop Munich-New York service with the Lockheed L1011-500. And starting in mid-1981, you'll be able to enjoy the new Pan Am Clipper Class service on all routes in our 747 fleet.
We have taken the middle seat out of circulation. You, the business traveler, benefit the most.
