Rare Transitional Hallmark Information

For specialized collectors of Mexican silver hallmarks, the back of this piece features a fascinating, historic transitional over-stamp anomaly. During the narrow transitional window of 1979–1982, workshops were adapting to new government stamping regulations. Rather than using a newly issued complete stamp, the artisan used a clever shortcut: they stamped the letters "TM" directly overlapping the older, pre-1980 bell-shaped government assay "Eagle 35" mark.

By strategically using the "35" from the Eagle stamp to act as the "-35" section of the new registry code, the artisan created a "TM-35" mark. This cross-stamped combination serves as a time capsule, perfectly dating the production of this piece to that specific crossover era.
