Australian 1920-30s Flappers 9ct Gold Lined Melba Wrist Bangle Bracelet

Made popular by opera singers at around the turn of the 20th century these bangles were worn by opera divas, they continued to be fashionable through to the flapper era of the 1920s-1930s. In Australia, they became known as Melbas due to Nellie Melbas habit of wearing one on the upper arm above the elbow. The size of this one shows that it is meant to be worn on the wrist

The bangle is a continuous band with a curve profile. The yellow gold colour is marked “375 LINED GM”, in the Australian manner; the initials “GM” being its maker (unidentified).
