Ornate Open Face Key Wind Pocket Watch A/F
This is a sterling silver open faced
hunter dress pocket watch. The case is hallmarked Chester 1879 with maker’s
initials of “W & H” for White and Hawkins, Legge Lane, Birmingham. It has an
unmarked key wind movement. In open face manner the front glass is fitted with
a hinge. The dial is ornate with rococo styling. The rear hinged cover has
engined turned margin of repeating rose, mesh pattern, with a central garter
and shield cartouche (blank). It has a plain polished silver inner dust cover
with decorative engraved pinion holes to fit key.
It is not running, appears overwound with balance spring intact, dry and
in need of a service; all other faults unknown. It is offered as a restorer’s
project with no returns.
