GO! SERVICE – Original 1980s Studio Master / Alternate Mixes Reel-to-Reel Tape
Offered for auction is an unusual original professional studio tape by Go! Service, the UK indie band active during the mid-1980s.
The tape is housed in its original Ampex Precision Magnetic Tape box and contains extensive handwritten studio information.
The front identifies GO! SERVICE and lists:
1. “A” Master – “Too Much To Hide”
2. Different mix
3. Different mix
4. “A” Master – “It Makes Me Realise”
Additional handwritten information on the reverse identifies:

2. “King and Country” – version with Eddie on drums and extra lyrics
The technical information written on the box states:

The use of “A Master”, together with the alternate-mix/version annotations, makes this a particularly interesting surviving piece of Go! Service’s studio history.
The tape appears to contain not only master versions but also different mixes and alternate versions, including a version of King and Country specifically noted as having extra lyrics.
Go! Service were part of the UK independent music scene of the mid-1980s and toured Europe with The Television Personalities. “Too Much To Hide” is documented as part of the band’s repertoire during this period.
PLEASE NOTE: This tape has not been played or professionally tested by me. The description of its contents is therefore based entirely on the original handwritten information on the tape box.
I am not claiming that any of the alternate mixes or versions are previously unreleased, as this has not been independently verified.
The tape and box are offered exactly as found. The box has age-related wear, staining, handwriting and markings consistent with its age. Please examine all photographs carefully as they form part of the description.
No attempt has been made to clean, restore or alter the recording.
An unusual opportunity to acquire an original Go! Service professional studio/master tape, containing masters, different mixes and alternate versions from the band’s 1980s period.
