Product Description
SANSUI TC-505
vintage AM/FM receiver amplifier
Description:
A stereo preamplifier equipped with an AM/FM tuner.
The FM front end of the tuner section employs a triple variable capacitor and an FET in the RF stage, achieving high sensitivity and improving interference rejection capabilities such as cross-modulation and image rejection.
Furthermore, the adoption of an AGC circuit improves selectivity in strong signal areas.
A 4-stage IF amplification and a 3-stage limiter circuit provide sufficient limiting effect, making reception easy even in noisy areas.
The muting and noise canceller switches use a 3-stage switching method, allowing you to enjoy noise-free broadcasts both when tuning and receiving.
Muting eliminates inter-station noise, enabling quiet tuning.
The noise canceller abandons the conventional high-cut method and can remove noise when receiving FM broadcasts without cutting the high-frequency audible range.
The power supply for the FM front end, FM and AM sections uses a Zener diode stabilized power supply.
The front end, in particular, safely compensates for temperature fluctuations in the local oscillator, and further stabilizes the power supply to minimize local oscillator drift, successfully eliminating the need for an AFC circuit. It
features a sharp, pinpoint tuning circuit.
It incorporates an FM multi-circuit with 35dB separation.
It has a purely electronic FM stereo/mono switch.
The FM antenna has two impedance terminals, 300Ω and 75Ω. In addition, a local/distant switch is provided, allowing for distortion-free reception even in strong signal areas.
The AM tuner section has a built-in high-sensitivity ferrite bar antenna.
The preamplifier section uses NF amplifiers for all amplification circuits from the first stage to the final output stage.
Furthermore, specially selected low-noise silicon transistors are used in the equalizer circuit, and the low-frequency section uses all silicon transistors to achieve a particularly low S/N ratio.
The tone control amplifier section is designed with attention to noise and distortion characteristics, using low-noise silicon transistors and NF-type tone control.
It features a headphone jack and a separate dedicated booster independent of the output circuit, allowing for effective use as a monitor.
It includes accessory circuits such as high filter, low filter, and loudness control.
Power supply: AC100V, 50Hz/60Hz .
Power consumption: 10VA.
Dimensions: W382 x H111 x D267mm.
Weight: 6.3kg
This is a fully functional unit that has been cleaned both internally and externally.
AM/FM reception sensitivity is excellent, and all stereo reception signal lamps and gauge lamps have been replaced.
All semi-fixed resistors and switches have been cleaned, and there is no crackling noise.
There are no abnormalities in the amplifier input/output.
The main output is an RCA line output, not a speaker output.
It functions perfectly as an extended sub-amplifier when connected to another main amplifier as a tuner or AUX input.
No capacitors have been replaced, and it is in full original condition; a working unit of this era is extremely rare.
The high and low cut switches are very effective for adjusting the radio listening experience.
(The envelope and circuit diagram on the bottom of the equipment are not included.)
