Beautiful antique American Brilliant Period cut-glass bowl, dating approximately to the turn of the 20th century.

This approximately 6-inch bowl features an exceptionally intricate geometric design combining large sweeping fine-line fan/petal motifs, small hobstar/star elements, deeply cut intersecting mitres, cross-cut geometric decoration and an elaborate patterned border.

The perimeter is finished with a decorative scalloped/notched edge that adds additional brilliance to the design.

The major grooves are deep with distinctly sharp edges, consistent with wheel-cut decoration rather than ordinary molded pressed glass. Particularly attractive are the extremely fine parallel-line fields within the four large central fan/petal sections.

The bowl does not produce as pronounced a sustained ring as some other cut-glass pieces, but the deep, sharp cutting and fine-line workmanship are consistent with period cut-glass techniques.

No manufacturer's signature has been located. Although the pattern shares elements found in work by several prominent American cutting houses, no exact maker or pattern attribution has been established, so it is being offered as maker unknown.
