CHARMING KOSTA BODA ZOO LION BY BERTIL VALLIEN - SWEDISH ART GLASS

Presenting a charming Kosta Boda Zoo lion by Bertil Vallien, one of the wonderfully characterful animal figures from Vallien's celebrated Zoo series, originally designed for Boda Glassworks in Sweden in 1975. With its beautifully simplified form, rounded contours and wonderfully expressive face, the little lion has a quiet, almost whimsical personality that is instantly appealing.

Crafted in clear solid glass, the sculpture has a pleasing weight and beautifully captures Vallien's ability to give even the simplest forms a strong sense of character. The lightly textured surface adds further interest, catching and scattering the light across the rounded head and body.

The Kosta Boda Zoo series was produced in a variety of animal forms and sizes, and these delightful Scandinavian glass animals have become highly recognisable and collectible examples of Vallien's early work.

A particularly lovely example, with excellent clarity and beautifully preserved surfaces. A sweet piece of Swedish art glass with plenty of personality, equally at home among a collection of Scandinavian design or displayed as a small sculptural accent.
