Wonderful matching pair of large vintage porcelain alpine skier figurines featuring a male and female skier, each carrying a pair of long skis.
Both figures are marked MADE IN JAPAN in red on the underside.
Beautiful Art Deco-style design with highly detailed hand-painted features, period ski clothing, scarves, gloves, boots, ski bindings, and long curved skis. The coordinating figures have complementary poses and reversed color combinations, making them especially attractive displayed together.
Each measures approximately 14” tall including the skis. Please refer to the measurement photo for exact scale.
Vintage condition with age-related glaze crazing throughout, surface marks, discoloration, and other normal signs of age.
The female figure has several dark marks/scuffs along the front edge of the base and additional age-related wear/crazing.
The male figure has a visible hairline crack in the porcelain base extending from near the shoe toward the outer edge. The female has a hairline crack on the skis. Please see the close-up photos. Both figures remain standing and display beautifully.
