Original 1996 U.S. advance promotional CD of Sherree Ford-Payne’s self-titled debut album, issued by Almo Sounds.
This is a genuine pre-release promotional edition, clearly marked “ADVANCE CD – PROMOTIONAL COPY NOT FOR SALE” on both the disc and rear insert. It carries the distinctive advance catalog number AMSD-A-80002, differentiating it from the standard commercial release.
The 12-track album blends contemporary and old-school R&B, soul and urban adult sounds, featuring “Move On,” “Love Him Anyway,” “Shoulda Coulda Woulda,” “Stay For Awhile” and “Special Lady.”
The release also has an important label connection: Almo Sounds was founded by Herb Alpert and Jerry Moss, and Alpert himself plays trumpet on “Shoulda Coulda Woulda.” This dedicated advance configuration makes the copy particularly appealing to collectors of 1990s R&B promos and record-label pre-release CDs.
Sherree Ford-Payne’s self-titled album was released commercially by Almo Sounds in 1996, with the standard U.S. edition carrying catalog number AMSD 80002.
