Vintage hand-bearing marine compass marked Japan, sold by James Bliss & Co., Inc. of Dedham, Massachusetts.
Includes the original dovetailed wooden James Bliss carrying case with leather shoulder strap. Compass features a sighting mechanism and handheld body designed for taking navigational bearings.
Vintage pre-owned condition with age-related wear, discoloration, dust and surface marks. The leather shoulder strap is broken/detached on one side of the case, as shown in the photos. Wooden case and strap show additional wear consistent with age.Untested.
