Offered by the original owner/seller, this gently-used VG+ condition product is a vinyl record of Tom Waits' eighth studio album "Swordfishtrombones" released in 1983 on the purple Island Records label. This first edition LP features original inner sleeve and cover, with a 12" size and a speed of 33 RPM. This is the first of his albums that Tom Waits produced himself. It received widespread acclaim from music critics and was a commercial success in the US, and several other countries. This album is considered his first musical departure from his traditional piano songwriting style into a more experimental/abstract rock style that uses a wide variety of instruments. Waits attributes this style departure to his wife Kathleen Simone, to whom this album is dedicated. Etched in the vinyl is "For Kathleen and KelleSimone" (wife and daughter). The 15 tracks include some creative instrumentals as well as the popular songs "16 Shells from a Thirty-Ought-Six," "In the Neighborhood," and "Johnsburg, Illinois."
