Later half green leather binding with cloth boards. Spine with five raised bands and gilt title. Fading to spine. Small tear to leather on front board. Page edges untrimmed. Marbled endpapers. Complete with the engraved title, 49 pages of text followed by list of subscribers. All 62 plates of arms present but bound slightly out of sequence: 11-14 bound after 56. The original paper wraps have also been bound in, with paper title label to front cover, and also the prelim sheet with an advert for a second volume (that was never published). From the library of Williamstrip Park, Coln St. Aldwyns - seat of the Hicks-Beach family. Original cover is inscribed Sir M. Hicks Bart, Whitcomb. Two names have also been inked in to the list of subscribers: Sir Mich. Hicks Bart. Whitcomb; Howe Hicks Beach Esq. Williamstrip. Two states exist for this work, this is the variant with two engravings of 'The Ancient Seal of the City of Glocester' at the head of Page 1. An excellent example. ESTC: T105267.
