This is an antique or vintage wrought iron vanity stool / bench, also called a radio stool by some depending on how it is used, and likely dates from the early to mid-20th century. The stool features an ornate lyre or harp-inspired scroll design in the metalwork, which is characteristic of French Provincial or Art Nouveau aesthetics.
It consists of a hand-forged or cast wrought iron base with a weathered gold or "antiqued" finish, supporting a rectangular wooden seat. The seat is covered with a floral fabric, has no stains or tears, and appears to be original to the construction of the stool. It is well padded over a wooded base, but please note that the wooden base shows wear on the outside (scratches, etc). We had thought of touching it up with Old English or something like that but decided to leave it as is so the new owner could decide how they wanted to address repairing the frame. Also please note by viewing the photos that the wood on the seat is more of a frame to the seat instead of being a solid 2-3 inch wooden board. This helps in decreasing the overall weight of the stool.
One thing that is rather unique in the construction design of this stool is that the sides that form the legs of the stool can be folded down on hinges by unscrewing and removing the horizontal center metal rod support, making it very compact for shipping or storing (see attached photos). This option will be used in shipping the stool, which will not only make it more compact to save on shipping fees but also make the legs less likely to be damaged during shipping.PAyment to be made via PayPal within 4
